Ways to Simplify Your Life

Life isn’t simple. What a contradiction, we know.

However, I think we can all admit that there are a number of aspects that we can simplify in our life that would ultimately have a positive impact. It is human nature to want validation, to want to make people happy, to do the most and always put your best foot forward. But, sometimes that comes at the cost of our own happiness and wellbeing. When you find yourself in this situation you don’t need to change every aspect of your life cold turkey, instead doing some reflection and identifying areas in your life to make changes.

Put Yourself First

Humans are givers. While that is such a treasure and a gift, it should not come at the price of your well being or your own personal happiness. Throughout life we transition throughout jobs, friendships, houses, relationships, etc all of which take a toll on our day to day. If you’ve found yourself stressed or overwhelmed, always having to give so much of yourself that you don’t have enough leftover, you’re in the right place. We want to share some healthy habits about how you can redefine boundaries, reset friendships, and set new standards to achieve happiness and lead a life that is full of relationships, friendship, adn self fulfillment with you at the core.

Get Your Life Straight

There is often the misconception that putting yourself first means abandoning friendships, quitting your job, or ignoring people. It doesn’t look like that at all. Instead, set your priorities. Sit down and brainstorm what in this life gives you purpose, brings you joy, pushes you to be a better person. Align your life around those aspects. Engage with friends that share similar hobbies, work with a team that has the same goals in line, do something that makes you smile.

It’s Your Path

Sometimes losing a friend hurts. Ending a relationship is painful. Moving on is hard. However, sometimes the idea hurts even more. The truth is it is your road and yours alone, others may walk it with you but they can not walk it for you. Choose your team, handpick who you want walking alongside you and recognize that sometimes people are on different parts of the path. That doesn’t make them a bad person and it doesn’t make the time you shared a waste, it just means they need to figure out their own path as well. So wish them the best, cheer them on, and move on.

Life Is Short

Perhaps the most simple yet true statement we’ve all heard. The truth is life is short, moments are fleeting, and memories happen fast. Things can happen in the blink of an eye and life is too short to entertain mean friends, work on projects that don’t challenge or inspire you, stay in a stagnant workplace, or even drink crappy coffee. Seize the moment, take control of your life because guess what..IT IS YOURS. It’s easy to get caught up in the world around us, to strive to be liked and admired by everyone, but it’s equally as easy to lose yourself in the process. You have to be your own best friend, your biggest cheerleader, and your own boss. Be in the moment, they go fast!
